I ‘teach’ God’s Word to a group of young people at my church every Sunday. I use the word ‘teach’ loosely because most of the times they are teaching me to be a better communicator of the Gospel and their questions cause me to go look for answers which in turn, teaches me more :). We’re going to be memorising verses related to the topics that we study so I’ll post them here as a reminder for me and for anyone else who wants to join in mediating on the Word of God together.
Week 1 – “I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.” – Romans 1:16 (NIV)
Week 2 – “Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and then all these things shall be added unto you as well.” – Matthew 6:33
Week 3 – “Let us not neglect meeting together as some are in the habit of doing, but instead encourage each other – and all the more as we see the Day approaching.” – Hebrews 10:25
Week 4 – We celebrated the Year 12 grads getting into their first preferences at uni so no memory verse this week :).
Week 5 – “And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are all called to live in peace. And always be thankful.” Colossians 3:15
Week 6 – “Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” – 2 Corinthians 9:7

Week 9 – ‘Therefore do not worry saying, “What shall we eat?” or “What shall we drink?” or “What shall we wear?” For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.’ – Matthew 6:31-32
Week 10 – “But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night. They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.” – Psalm 1:2-3 (NLT)

Week 12 – “But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.” – Isaiah 53:5

We had a bit of downtime with the memory verses but I was surprised when the students actually asked for us to get back on the memory verse bandwagon :D.

29 July 2012 – “Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your Christian brothers and sisters all over the world are going through the same kind of suffering you are.” – 1 Peter 5:8-9 (NLT)
